Find the right door.
Finding help shouldn't be another problem to solve.
Our counties have resources. That isn't what people tell us is missing. They tell us it can be hard to know where to start, who does what, whether you qualify, and what happens when one program isn't the right fit.

A clearinghouse isn't a longer list. It's a clearer path.
When YCAN was incorporated in 2007, our founders wrote that one of its
purposes was to be a clearing house on available resources and information.
Nearly twenty years later, we understand that responsibility differently. You don't need another directory. Wyoming 2-1-1 already keeps a large statewide one, and other organizations keep specialized lists. YCAN doesn't need to copy them.
"Clearing house" stays our founders' idea. Local connection is how we carry it out today.
- Wyoming 2-1-1helps people find resources.
- YCANhelps the local system make those resources easier to reach.
What the Clearinghouse does.
The Clearinghouse is a local resource-and-connection function. Its job is to:
- Identifyuseful resources that matter to people in Park, Hot Springs, and Teton Counties.
- Pointpeople toward the right local doorway, instead of trying to provide every service ourselves.
- Connectlocal organizations to one another when a person needs to move between systems.
- Maintainreferral pathways when partners aren't sure where to send someone.
- Noticerecurring gaps and dead ends, and bring them back into local community planning.

That last one is what makes this more than a directory. The Clearinghouse is part of YCAN's local systems work.
What's happening? Start there.
Pick what's closest to your situation. Each pathway gives you a few good first doors, not every program. Open one to see who to call in your county.

These are starting points, not endorsements or guarantees of help. Hours and programs change, so call ahead. YCAN's own CSBG help is available by referral through our community partners; we don't take walk-ins or self-referrals.
A wrong number isn't just a broken link. It's community data.
Every pathway ends with one question: Is this wrong or out of date? When you tell us, we fix the page. And we look for the pattern.
If six people tell us an agency doesn't offer rides anymore, that's a transportation gap. If recovery partners keep telling us people have treatment but lose housing while they're trying to stay in recovery, that's not a directory problem. It's a system condition, and it goes to our partners, our needs assessment, and our board.

How this page fits the bigger system.
This page is one piece of YCAN's Confluence Community Access and Referral Initiative in our Community Action Plan.
- Where people get stuckThe community tells us.
- IdentifyThe right doorsYCAN and partners sort out who does what, and where referrals begin.
- PointThis pagePeople find a clearer first step.
- Cross-trainPartnersLearn each other's referral paths so no one gets sent in circles.
- ListenCustomer experienceShows where the path still breaks.
- Work on itThe Confluence coalitionTakes on the gaps no single program can fix.
- ↻ Needs assessment + action planCapture what we learned, and the cycle starts again.
That's a system. And it's close to what our founders had in mind.
We don't need to know everything.
We need to help the community know what connects to what.
YCAN works alongside communities to change the conditions that create poverty, strengthen local systems, and expand opportunities for future generations. Connecting resources is how we strengthen local systems.
- Our role is not to become every doorway.
- Our role is to help the doorways connect.
The right doors, not every door.
The YCAN Clearinghouse exists to connect people and local organizations to the right doors, not to serve as an open directory for every organization that wants access to our community.
What we include
- Local organizations
- Local government and public agencies
- Wyoming resources that directly serve our communities
- Statewide resources needed to complete a local referral
- Organizations willing to take part in local referral pathways
- Information that helps a resident find the right door
What the Clearinghouse isn't for
- A national nonprofit directory
- Listing every nonprofit in the country
- A national referral service
- Advertising space for organizations
- A mailing list for national organizations
- Solicitation from organizations without a meaningful local role
- Adding links simply because an organization asks to be listed
When we decline a listing, it isn't a judgment about an organization's value. It simply falls outside the Clearinghouse's local purpose: to make resources easier to reach, strengthen connections among local organizations, and identify gaps in the local system.
